 COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS: OMMY RUKO

Ommy Ruko (she/they) is a white genderqueer transsexual woman and drag queen. Originally from the backwoods of Maine, she closed a chapter shaped by Christian fundamentalism when she moved to Greater Boston in 2016. There, she began a transformative journey—coming out, transitioning, and eventually stepping into the world of drag.

As a board member of TRMA focusing on Community Outreach, and as a trans artist, Ommy dedicates her work to building a resilient and connected queer community in Massachusetts. She’s especially passionate about creating positive, intersectional relationships between trans people, other marginalized groups, and faith-based communities. Ommy believes that embracing and integrating difference—even deep difference—is essential to creating the change needed for safety, equity, and collective joy.
