RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES
Research plays a crucial role in advancing transgender health by providing the data and insights needed to better understand the unique challenges faced by the transgender community. It helps identify gaps in care, improve health outcomes, and develop more inclusive policies and practices. Through research, we can address barriers such as lack of access to competent healthcare, discrimination, and inadequate support services, ensuring that transgender individuals receive the care they deserve. By focusing on these areas, research empowers us to create a more equitable healthcare system and promote the well-being of all transgender people.

MEASURING TRANS DISSOCIATION
The City University of New York, Baruch College Sexual and Gender Minority Health (SGMH) lab (PI: Christopher Stults).
If you are a trans or nonbinary adult currently living in the United States, you may be eligible for a paid research study being conducted by transmasculine nonbinary doctoral student Jamie Taber and the Baruch College Sexual and Gender Minority Health (SGMH) lab! Participation will involve completing a 30-minute online survey to test and provide feedback on a new measure of trans-specific experiences with dissociation, which we recently created in collaboration with trans focus group members. We are especially interested in the perspectives of Black, Indigenous, and other trans people of color. If you are eligible, complete a brief Zoom verification call, and complete the full survey, you will receive a $10 electronic gift card.
The Transgender Research Informed Consent (TRICON) disclosure statement, which includes detailed information about ethical concerns specific to trans communities, can be found at https://linktr.ee/TransDissociate.
You can also find more information and complete the screening survey at https://baruch.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1OnJ0hpxbbcA0Zw.

SURVEY: RESILIANCE AND FANDOM CULTURE
St. Joseph’s University New York Psychology Department (PI: Gabriela Vilorio, gvilorio@student.sjny.edu; Supervisor: Dr. Anna Egbert, aegbert@sjny.edu).
We are currently conducting research aiming at illuminating resilience factors in Transgender and Gender Diverse young adults.

As part of our study, a survey has been created to measure participants’ resilience against external stressors and their participation in fandom and fanart. The results from this survey will be analyzed and used to underscore the impact fandom culture can provide for the Transgender and Gender Diverse community and alleviate the stigma surrounding both.

We are hoping to find individuals who are willing to participate in this survey and make a contribution to their community by sharing their insight and experiences. The survey is completely anonymous.
